Este hino tradicional foi escrito pelo Reverendo John Newton da Igreja de Inglaterra, em 1779. Amazing Grace usa apenas seis notas diferentes na sua melodia. O hino foi inicialmente popularizado na América por Singin' Billy Walker. Em 1971 Judy Collins teve um êxito Nº 15 na tabela Hot 100 e vendeu um milhão de exemplares com Amazing Grace (Elektra 45709). No ano seguinte, os Royal Scots Dragoon Guards Band (RCA 74-0709) tiveram o único êxito que vendeu um milhão a utilizar gaita de foles. O solo de gaita de foles foi feito por Major Tony Crease. A gravação deles chegou à 11ª posição na tabela Hot 100 da Billboard. Um segmento da sua versão pode ser ouvido no filme de 1978, Invasion of the Body Snatchers. No funeral de Ronnie Van Zant, Charlie Daniels e os .38 Special cantaram Amazing Grace.

Elvis gravou Amazing Grace em 15 de Março de 1971, nos estúdios da RCA, em Nashville.
