Aaron Schroeder e Wall Gold compuseram Good Luck Charm para Elvis, que a gravou em 15 de Outubro de 1961, nos estúdios da RCA em Nashville. Em Abril de 1962, Good Luck Charm substituiu a canção Johnny Angel de Shelley Fabares na primeira posição da tabela Hot 100. Depois de duas semanas foi substituída na primeira posição por Soldier Boy, das Shirelles. Good Luck Charm passou um total de 13 semanas na tabela e vendeu mais de um milhão de exemplares. Foi o último single de Elvis número um até 1969. Na Inglaterra o disco foi número um durante cinco semanas.
