I’m Movin’ On foi escrita por Hank Snow em 1945, mas não foi gravada por ele até 1950 (RCA 0328). Steve Sholes da RCA não quis que Snow gravasse a canção. I’m Movin’ On teve um total de permanência de 44 semanas na tabela country, chegando à primeira posição. Snow gravou uma vez um disco de seguimento a este intitulado I’m Still Movin’ On (RCA 1068). Em 1959 Ray Charles teve uma versão de I’m Movin’ On (Atlantic 2043) que alcançou o 11º lugar na tabela de rhythm & blues. Nesse mesmo ano Don Gibson chegou a 14º lugar na tabela country com a sua gravação (RCA 47-7629).

Elvis gravou I’m Movin’ On em 15 de Janeiro de 1969, nos American Sound Studios, em Memphis. Em 14 de Outubro de 1980, Felton Jarvis gravou uma nova faixa instrumental no Young’un Sound em Nashville e lançou a nova versão no LP Guitar Man.
