Cindy Cindy

download

(Kaye, Weisman and Fuller)

Information:
Several sessions of Cindy Cindy using different lyrics and sometimes different titles have been recorded through the years. In the 1969 movie Rio Bravo, Ricky Nelson sang the song as Get Along Home, Cindy. A year later Teddy Vann had a release on Triple X Records (Triple X-101) that used the title Cindy. Buddy Kaye, Ben Weisman and Dolores Fuller adapted the song as Cindy Cindy for Elvis in 1970. Elvis recorded the song as Cindy Cindy in a session at RCA’s Nashville studios on June 4, 1970.

Lyrics:

Wish I was an apple dangling from a tree
Every time you'd pass me by you'd take a bite off me
I wish I was a bluebird I'd never fly away
I'd sit up on your shoulder baby and sing to you all day

1. Come on home Cindy Cindy, Come on home Cindy Cindy
Come on home Cindy Cindy, Come on home with me

I wrote it in a letter, I carved it on a tree
Told it to a honeycomb who told it to a bee
Told them that I love you, they all know it's true
Say it till the cows come home until it gets to you

1. (repeat)

Need you in the morning to start the coffee pot
Need you in the afternoon to fan me when I'm hot
Need you in the evening when supper time is through
What I'm really tryin' to say is I can't get enough of you

1. (repeat)

If I were a musician I'd harp on just one thing
You should never play my harp the way you pluck a string
If only you would love me and sincerely tell me so
I beat two drums about it baby to let the whole world know

1. 1. (repeat)
