Elvis's Mission
Elvis was a tool of God. His overall purpose was to bring people closer to spiritual values and "God" (however you choose to interpret "God"). In the 1950s, his mission was to combat racism and bigotry. In the late 1960s and early '70s, his mission was to fight organized crime and corruption.
Elvis's generosity was legendary and he showed great love and compassion for his fellow human beings. There have been many lies, exagerations and distortions spoken and written about him. Yes, he was human with human failings. He was obstinate. He had a temper and an obsessive personality. He didn't cope well with fame and fortune. But in the end, the good in Elvis overwhelmingly outweighs his shortcomings.
During his lifetime, Elvis suffered mockery and many humiliations. His later health problems and bullying by the mob added to the cross he had to bear. His purported manner of death symbolises his sufferings and the humiliations heaped upon him and, far from negating his achievements, adds bathos to his story.
