Hound Dog was on the Hot 100 chart on July 25th 1956, at the number 2 slot, it remained on the chart for twenty eight weeks, it entered the Country chart on the same day at the number 1 position and remained for twenty nine weeks. The Rhythm & Blues chart listed Hound Dog at number 1 on August 8th, it stayed on this chart for eight weeks. Don't Be Cruel was number 1 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart on August 8th 1956 and stayed on this chart for twenty seven weeks and was number 1 for seven of these weeks. The Country chart had this song at number 1 on July 25th, it remained on the chart for twenty nine weeks. The number 1 position for this song on the Rhythm  Blues chart on August 8th where it would stay for eight weeks, one week at number 1.

September 27th 1956 was the date this single entered the UK chart, it reached number 2 on the chart, released on the His Master's Voice, with gold or silver lettering on a purple label, catalogue No. POP 249
