Sun 225                 Yellow Sun Label

The label has Elvis Presley on one line, Scotty and Bill on another. Release number at bottom of the label

Side A.  I Forgot To Remember To Forget

Side B.  Mystery Train

Both sides of this 45 reached number 1 on the Country chart on September 7th 1955 and it stayed on the chart for forty weeks

The last two sides of Elvis' Sun career were recorded on 21st July 1955, "I Forgot To Remember To Forget" was another number penned by Stan Kesler, this time with another Sun artist, Charlie Feathers. Once more a drummer sat in, but if you listen to the track this adds little to the song. Scotty adds perfect accompaniment in the verses and a great solo, Bill's bass is solid, and without the drums the song would sound like a slow ballad, and Elvis' vocal regularly trembles with feeling.

It's B-side proved to be a triumphant farewell to the Sun studio, Junior Parker's "Mystery Train", a 1953 Sun hit, on which Sam Phillips had co-writers credit, it is reworked, there was no need for drums, the trio drove the track along at their own pace, at the end of the number it ends with a whoop and a chuckle from Elvis because he thought he had screwed up, unaware that this would go down as one of rock 'n' roll's memorable moments.
