FASHION NOTES: Miss Dior Cherie
(2nd item)
(Times Despatch, October 8 2005)
Christian Dior creative director John Galliano believed there was only one face with the attitude to bring his newest fragrance to life, and it belongs to Riley Keough, Elvis Presley's granddaughter. "Once you lock eyes with her, you are mesmerized. Ever since I met her she enchanted and inspired me," Galliano says. Miss Dior Cherie is supposed to be a younger, more modern version of the classic Miss Dior perfume, which was modeled after Brigitte Bardot. The character is coquettish, beautiful, full of free energy and Parisian.
While Keough is actually from Los Angeles, she has the "joie de vivre" that would celebrate the fragrance, according to Galliano. "The perfume is sweet, like the girl, and is young and a fresh reinvention of Miss Dior.

Riley Keough
(mykindaplace.com, September 17 2005)
It's no wonder that John Galliano has gone gaga over Elvis Presley's granddaughter, Riley Keough. She's only 16 but she has her granpop's piercing blue eyes and her mum, Lisa Marie Presley's confident and sexy stride. This ensemble worn at the Dior show, teams opposites like bright pink and country tweed for an edgy look that screams rock 'n' roll while still expounding classic tailoring. Elvis's granddaughter in Dior Campaign
(femalefirst.co.uk, September 8 2005)
Riley Keough grand daughter of Elvis Presley looks stunning in her latest advertising campaign for Christian Dior. The 16 year old was photographed by Pirelli calendar photographer Nick Knight, styled by Cate Blanchett's stylist and directed by Dior designer John Galliano. She wore a beautifully cut pale blue jacket accessorised with a denim mini and handbag. Galliano is delighted with the campaign and said;" I felt Riley represented the youthfulness of the jacket and decided to do a few pictures with her people would associate the personality in it. Keough has previously modelled for Italian fashion house Dolce and Gabbana. Her mother Lisa Marie Presley supports her career but once said "She has big plans - she is making me a nervous wreck. She wants to make her own money, which I totally respect but she is still my baby."

Elvis' granddaughter, in the house
By Donna Freydkin
(Yahoo! News / USA Today, August 22 2005)
Riley Keough is not your average 16-year-old. Other teens might earn summer cash by folding T-shirts at the Gap. Elvis Presley's granddaughter, meanwhile, is the face of Christian Dior's Miss Dior Cherie perfume. The scent, which was launched this summer and retails for $65 and $85 at Saks Fifth Avenue, counts Julia Stiles, Emmy Rossum and Marcia Cross among its fans. And it has Riley's face on the poster. Seeing her face staring back at her in magazines is "a little weird, but it's cool, too," Riley says.. The teenager is a veteran in front of the camera. She appeared in a Vogue cover with her mom, Lisa Marie, and grandmother, Priscilla Presley, last August and has ad campaigns for David Yurman and Dior fashion under her belt.
For now, Riley says, she's just enjoying the ride and not making future plans - including following her family's musical legacy (dad Danny Keough - pronounced KEE-o - is also a musician) by releasing her own album. She says, "I was lucky. I got this amazing opportunity so young, but I have lots of things I want to try and want to pursue, and I guess, lots of things yet to learn." She already has mastered the catwalk, making her runway debut for designers Dolce & Gabbana in Milan in February 2004. A month earlier, she had hooked up with Dior. ...

On the scent of teen spirit
By NYRESA CAMA
(The Star, August 8 2005)
Good genes appear to have filtered down to the latest star from the Presley clan. NYRESA CAMA looks at the charmed life - so far - of Elvis's level-headed teenage granddaughter.
As Elvis Presley's granddaughter, Riley Keough's life was never going to be ordinary. Add to that the modelling career that began when she was 12 and a mere three years later has resulted in major Christian Dior fashion and perfume campaigns, and Keough's life seems like one few of us could even imagine.
But that's not the way the 15-year-old tells it. According to Keough, she spends more time studying, hanging out with her friends and living the life of an average teenager than she does at Dior photo shoots. Her everyday life, she says in a Christian Dior press release, reads exactly the same way as all her friends with none of the trappings of glamorous extravagance -no elaborate beauty regime ("I like beauty treatments like most girls, but I'm not a slave to them"), no personal shopper ("no way! I love going shopping by myself, and with my friends"), no strict diet ("I try to eat healthy ... but I still love ice cream!"), and no escape from schoolwork ("I get assigned work and keep up with my studies during shootings"). ...

(Winnipeg Sun . AP, last year's news, item for this media source found April 26, 2005)
She wasn't wearing blue suede shoes, but Riley Keough -- granddaughter of Elvis Presley, daughter of Lisa Marie Presley -- put her best foot forward in her modelling debut. The 14-year-old walked the runway yesterday during the Milan fashion show for D and G, which is Dolce and Gabbana's trendier, less-expensive clothing line. She's also scheduled to walk in Saturday's Dolce and Gabbana show, part of the fall-winter 2004 preview showings. "When we met Riley last year we were immediately struck by her beauty and fresh, pure spirit," Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana said in a statement. "With her mother's beauty and her grandfather's attitude, she is sure to be a star!"

JACKSON FRIGHTENS KEOUGH INTO SNUBBING SURGERY
(contactmusic.com, April 5, 2005)
Supermodel RILEY KEOUGH is so horrified by her former step-father MICHAEL JACKSON's extensive plastic surgery - she's vowed never to go under the knife. ELVIS PRESLEY's stunning granddaughter, Riley fears she would become addicted to cosmetic enhancements if she underwent surgery, and she doesn't want to look like the THRILLER star and other surgery fanatics in her native Los Angeles.
She says, "Plastic surgery is horrible and the problem is a lot worse in Los Angeles, where it's the norm. If it is really going to help you feel great about yourself to get your lips or breasts done then OK, but it's not good for you. It can turn into an addiction. If I got something done and I liked it, then maybe I'd want something else done. Where does it end? I know people who have work done at a very early age. It's depressing."

Top designers Dolce and Gabbana hired her to show off last year's collection at Milan fashion Week. The Italian maestro's were reported to have picked Riley for a combination of her mother's beauty and her grandfather's attitude.

Dolce & Gabbana top of the pops
By Susie Rushton
(New Zealand Herald, December 16, 2004)
"Because we are Italian, we are really spontaneous," explains Stefano Gabbana, one half of design duo Dolce & Gabbana. "And sometimes, when pop stars ask to borrow clothes, I say no - I say no because I don't have the time or maybe because I don't like the people, I don't like the singer, I don't like the song. I asked George Michael many times if we could dress him, and he said no. Not in a bad way. He said, 'No thank you, because I have everything already, I really appreciate it but I don't need it.' And on his last album, Patience, he was wearing our sunglasses, and I say, 'Thank you so much!'"
Strange as it may seem today, there was a time when the idea of blending pop music with designer fashion was novel. Of course, there was always a handful of musical visionaries who saw the value of a distinctive sartorial image: Elvis, Debbie Harry, Michael Jackson and David Bowie, to name but a few. But those stars were more likely to approach a specialist costumier than a fashion designer, to create their on-stage personae.
... To celebrate their ongoing relationship with pop artists, a glossy new book, entitled Music, is being published in the UK this month, with a portion of proceeds going to an Aids charity. As if to prove the designers' clout among rock royalty, three generations of Presley women - Priscilla, Lisa Marie and Riley Keough, a model and the image of her grandfather Elvis - arrived en masse for the book's recent launch in Italy, a feat which only US Vogue, for a cover shot, had previously pulled off. This was all part of what is now a remarkably successful strategy for Dolce & Gabbana, which sees the famous logo and brand promoted far beyond the fashion magazines and into the sphere of MTV and VH-1, album covers and world tours. ...

Milan scoop: Color radiated from the runways
By JACKIE BOLIN
(Bradenton Herald, November 25, 2004)
MILAN, Italy - They're a quiet pause on the international fashion show circuit - eight relatively low-key days of shows nestled between celebrity-obsessed New York and ultraserious Paris. But all eyes in the fashion world focused on Milan last month for two of spring's biggest fashion stories: Gucci, post-Tom Ford, and the ever-influential direction of Miuccia Prada. ... Elvis lives at Dolce & Gabbana: The tardiness of three generations of Presley women - daughter Lisa Marie, granddaughter Danielle Riley Keough and ex-wife Priscilla held up the Dolce & Gabbana runway show, which, for some guests, literally became too hot to handle; they had to flee the overheated room. But the women were center stage later that evening at the lacquered Dolce Milan boutique for a cocktail party celebrating the release of the new book, Dolce & Gabbana Music. The book highlights the Italian duo's rock-star moments dressing pop stars from Madonna and Britney Spears to Tina Turner and Beyonce. ...

All shook up by Presley pedigree
By LAURA BENJAMIN
(Advertiser, October 8, 2004)
HER face may not be familiar. Neither is her name. But her family certainly is.
At 15, Danielle Keough is keen to make her way in the modelling world - but being the only granddaughter of Elvis Presley won't do her any harm. After all, how many young models just starting out in the business find themselves courted by John Galliano? Danielle, who likes to be known as Riley, was given VIP treatment from the British designer after she modelled for him at the Christian Dior show in Paris. Backstage after the show, she chatted and laughed with Galliano.
"Danielle is shaping up to be one of the hottest models of the moment, although whether that is because of her looks or due to her famous family is anyone's guess," said an insider. "She certainly has a very unique look and is a pretty girl, although she is slightly shorter than a lot of the other models. Whatever the reason, she proved very popular at the Dior show."
At the same age, her mother Lisa Marie Presley was still a teenage rebel. And her grandmother Priscilla had already met Presley, the man known as The King of Rock 'n' Roll. Danielle is Lisa Marie Presley's daughter from her marriage to musician Danny Keough, which ended in 1994.

Galliano's summer style

John Galliano sent a shockwave through the fashion crowd today, abandoning his usual lavish catwalk theatrics at Christian Dior and sending out a collection of sexy, pretty, wearable clothes for next summer. ... The key piece of the collection was the fitted jacket, cinched at the waist and flared slightly over the hips - a reinvention of the jacket from Dior's own "bar suit" from 1947. ... The jacket will be the focus of Dior's summer ad campaign featuring Elvis Presley's granddaughter Riley Keough, who strutted down the catwalk today. ...

The Posh and Priscilla way to run a safari show
By Hadley Freeman
(Guardian, October 2, 2004)
The perils of the relationship between celebrities and designers were a little too apparent at yesterday's Dolce & Gabbana fashion show. This was odd because, more than any other label, Dolce & Gabbana is associated with famous faces. ... Minogue would not, presumably, have been very happy at the show yesterday. The media and guests were kept waiting impatiently outside for more than half an hour after the show was due to start until the diminutive Mrs Beckham turned up.
The proceedings were then delayed a further 45 minutes, for reasons that became clear a little later. After the designers had given up hope and the models had begun their parade, three generations of Presley women - Priscilla, Lisa Marie and her daughter Riley Keough (who appeared in the Dolce & Gabbana show last season) - straggled in and were forced to stand uncomfortably at the back of the room. This was presumably not the high-profile entrance the fashion designers were hoping for. ...

Booklovers report
(homestead.com, July 16, 2004)
ELVIS Presley's model granddaughter Riley Keough, 15, just landed her first major ad campaign. Keough, daughter of Lisa Marie Presley, shot the campaign for Christian Dior with photographer Nick Knight after attending Dior's couture show in Paris. Dior designer John Galliano visited the set, we're told, and was impressed by Keough's lack of attitude, despite the fact that she already travels with an entourage worthy of a supermodel.

Blue suede shoes all that's missing
By Maggie Alderson
(Sydney Morning Herald, March 1, 2004)
How clever of celebrity-friendly designers Dolce & Gabbana, during a weekend when all the red carpet big-names - including many designers and US Vogue editor Anna Wintour - were in Los Angeles for the Oscars, to find a different kind of famous face for their fashion show. And this was all about the face - their opening model was Riley Keough, daughter of Lisa Marie Presley, granddaughter of The King, Mr Elvis Presley. Talk about rock 'n' roll royalty. Stella McCartney and Jade and Elizabeth Jagger who are also involved in fashion are minor royals by comparison. At first Riley looked like just another very pretty 14-year-old with great legs and beautiful skin, just a bit shorter and more nervous than the veterans alongside her. But then, at the end of the show, as she strutted off arm in arm with the designers, her lip curled up slightly and there it was - a heart-stopping genetic imprint of her granddaddy. So that was all thrilling, but really Domenica Dolce and Stefano Gabbana's designs are so wonderful, they almost don't need to bother with the added-value big names. Their clothes are celebrities in their own right. ...
