(AFP via Yahoo! News, August 5, 2008)

  • LISA MARIE PRESLEY - NEWSPAPER APOLOGISES TO PRESLEY OVER 'FAT' JIBES
    By Djamilla Rosa Cochra
    (contactmusic.com, May 2, 2008)
A U.K. newspaper has been forced to apologise to pregnant singer LISA MARIE PRESLEY after it published an article alleging she was overweight. Elvis Presley's daughter says the Daily Mail's story, which was picked up by various media sources worldwide, ridiculed her appearance and forced her to disclose she is expecting a child.

Simon Smith, the star's U.K. lawyer, claimed the publication's claims she had an "unhealthy appetite" and is "growing like her dad" caused her to feel "deeply upset and offended".

On Friday (02May08) the 40-year-old received an apology from Associated Newspapers, the Daily Mail's publishers, after she launched a libel claim at London's High Court. Presley has two teenage children from her previous marriage to Danny Keogh - Riley, 18, and 15-year-old Benjamin - but this is her first child with husband Michael Lockwood.

  • Presley Apology in the Mail
    By Djamilla Rosa Cochra
    (eonline.com, May 2, 2008)
Lisa Marie Presley's lawsuit has left the building.

Elvis' offspring succeeded in wrangling an apology out of Britain's Daily Mail over an article published earlier this year in which the tab blamed the rock progeny's ballooning physique on eating habits inherited from daddy.

"On March 4, we published a photograph of Lisa Marie Presley while she was dining with friends," the Mail wrote in a mea culpa Friday. "We suggested she might have an unhealthy appetite similar to her late father. We now accept that the suggestion is untrue and apologize to Ms. Presley for any distress caused."

The article, and accompanying unflattering pictures, led to Presley's reluctant disclosure of her expectancy two days later, in which she also also slammed the newspaper's "vicious" and "personal attack." Her attorneys wasted no time reacting, either, filing a libel suit against the Mail less than a week after the article was published.

The 40-year-old Presley, meanwhile, will be back to fighting condition this fall, when she and hubby Michael Lockwood will welcome their first child together.

  • Lisa Marie Presley (and her big baby bump) has left the building
    (Daily Mail, April 8, 2008)
Lisa Marie Presley put her baby bump on show last night after enjoying a romantic night out in Los Angeles with husband Michael Lockwood. The daughter of rock 'n' roll king Elvis Presley, who is rumoured to be expecting twins, wore a dramatic full-length medieval style gown for dinner at Italian restaurant Madeo. But comfort was clearly a priority for the heavily pregnant star, who was spotted leaving the venue in a pair of black flip flops.

:isa Marie, who is expecting her third child with husband number four, says she has been struck by cravings, albeit healthy ones. "Fruit - it's boring but that's what I want," she said recently. "Any fruit: fruit smoothie, fruit juice - it's good!"

Lisa Marie also revealed music producer Lockwood, whom she wed in Japan in 2006, has been experiencing sympathy pains during her pregnancy. She told the American edition of OK! magazine: "He has all my symptoms. He feels like his belly is getting big, and he has the same appetite I have. He's having reflux and was nauseous the other day. It's funny."

Lisa Marie added that her with her teenage children still at home - Riley, 18, and Ben, 15, from her first marriage to Danny Keough - there will be no shortage of helping hands after she gives birth. She said: "Oh yeah, they will. I'll be at the bar, and they'll be home baby-sitting. Just kidding!" She is reported to be due at the end of August.

Lisa Marie Presley's husband is having a phantom pregnancy.

The 40-year-old star - who is rumoured to be expecting twins with music producer Michael Lockwood - says while she is finding her pregnancy easy, her spouse is suffering. • Lisa Marie Presley Sues Over Weight Report: Rock Icon's Daughter Claims Report Slanderous, Degrading
    (nbc5.com / Associated Press, March 11, 2008)
Lisa Marie Presley has sued a British newspaper for alleging that she was piling on the pounds because of her unhealthy appetite, her lawyer said Monday. Presley, who is pregnant, alleges in a suit filed at London's High Court on Friday that the story in Britain's Daily Mail was slanderous and degrading. The newspaper has since reported on the 40-year-old singer's pregnancy.

"Once they got a glimpse of my expanding physique a few days ago, they have been like a pack of coyotes circling their prey whilst eerily howling with delight," she said on her blog. The daughter of the late singer Elvis Presley claims the pictures taken at a Hollywood restaurant last week forced her to go public about the baby she is having with her fourth husband, music producer Michael Lockwood.

"It really upset her," Presley's attorney Jo Paton told The Associated Press. "She was about to announce her pregnancy and was shocked and hurt by the unkind article about her appearance." Paton said Presley was seeking an apology and damages. The Daily Mail said the first indication they had of Presley's complaint was when they were served with court documents. ...

  • Lisa Marie Presley blasts media over pregnancy
    (Yahoo! News / Reuters, March 7, 2008)
Singer Lisa Marie Presley, the only daughter of Elvis Presley, blasted the media on Friday for what she called "degrading stories" and "manipulated pictures" that forced her to go public with her pregnancy.

"Once they got a glimpse of my expanding physique a few days ago, they have been like a pack of coyotes circling their prey whilst eerily howling with delight," Presley, 40, wrote on her blog at MySpace.com. "Starting with a London publication and then New York and Chicago all writing false defamatory degrading stories about all of the dark possible reasons I could be putting on weight," she added.

On Thursday, People magazine cited Presley's publicist as saying the singer was pregnant and expecting a child in the fall with her fourth husband, musician Michael Lockwood, 46, and that the two were "incredibly overjoyed."

The story was confirmation of the pregnancy after weeks of stories and pictures in various publications speculating on her weight gain.

In a MySpace posting entitled "confirmation under the gun," Presley writes that the tabloid stories forced her to "show my cards and announce under the gun and under vicious personal attack that I am in fact pregnant."

"Pardon my seething contemptuous tone but ladies, you KNOW if you were pregnant and you felt you were expanding uncontrollably by the moment as a result and the worldwide media started badgering and harassing you for it, plastering you everywhere in an unflattering light, you would be mortified as well," Presley added.

Presley already has an 18-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old son from her first marriage to musician to Danny Keough. After that union ended in 1994, she briefly married Michael Jackson and then actor Nicolas Cage.

Presley is following in the musical footsteps of her father, who died in 1977. She is working on her third album, and last year released a version of Elvis' "In the Ghetto," in which she did a duet with her dad.

  • Elvis' daughter Lisa Marie Presley pregnant with third child
    (Yahoo! News / AFP, March 7, 2008)
The daughter of "king of rock" Elvis Presley admitted Friday she is pregnant with her third child after paparazzi photos were published showing her expanding waistline.

"After being the target all week of slanderous and degrading stories, horribly manipulated pictures and articles in the media, I have had to show my cards and announce under the gun and under vicious personal attack that I am in fact pregnant," a seething Lisa Marie Presley said on her MySpace web page.

Singer Presley, 40, married her fourth husband Michael Lockwood, a musician and her producer, in January 2006 in Japan. Her two children, age 18 and 15, are from her first marriage to Danny Keough.

The daughter of the "king of rock" Elvis famously became the wife of "king of pop" Michael Jackson for a year and a half, and was then married briefly to actor Nicolas Cage in 2002.

A follower of Scientology like her mother Priscilla, Presley has released two albums since 2003, both of which reached the US top 10 and sold more than a million copies each.

Presley was nine years old when her father Elvis died in 1977 at the age of 42.

There may be many advantages to being Elvis Presley's daughter, but at times your genetic inheritance may not be one of them. • Pregnant or not: A hunka hunka burning question for Lisa Marie Presley
    By Vicki Hyman
    (nj.com/entertainment/celebrities/index.ssf / Star-Ledger, March 4 2008)
Is Lisa Marie Presley pregnant again, or is she just fat? This is a question posed by the tabloids on a daily basis about any celebrity who breaks the 100-pound barrier or wears a baggy shirt -- Kate Hudson was practically asking for it recently, for daring to go about her business in actual clothes other than gold foil string bikinis.

Presley, however, is notably heavier than she was in the fall, and TMZ.com says she's expecting a baby with new husband Michael Lockwood. (She has two kids from her first marriage to Danny Keogh.) The National Enquirer also declares it to be so.

The British tabs lean toward plain ol' overindulgence, and have posted pics of Fat Elvis to bolster the genetics theory. (Our favorite headline: The Sun's "Elvis' daughter in the gateau," next to a picture of her tucking into lunch at the Los Angeles farmers market.)

  • Pink's Marriage Fades to Black
    (Yahoo! News, February 20 2008)
Pink's marriage was apparently not a feel-good time. The pop-punk princess and her husband of just two years, the motocross-racing, Surreal Life-starring Carey Hart, have separated. And by the sounds of things, rather amicably.

... The 24 year old Get "This Party Started" singer first met the 32-year-old extreme athlete at the 2001 X Games. After dating for much of the next few years—the duo briefly split in 2003 before rekindling their romance—Pink popped the question in June 2005 while Hart was in the midst of competing in the Pro 250 finals in Mammoth Lakes, California. While Hart was on the racetrack, Pink scrawled the words Will you marry me? on a board and wandered out to the pit area. When Hart saw the sign, he asked, "Are you serious?" before forfeiting the race to accept the proposal. Hart and Pink, whose real name is Alecia Moore, tied the knot in January 2006 in a seaside sunset ceremony in Costa Rica.

Roughly 100 of their closest friends attended the non-denominational service, including Lisa Marie Presley. In honor of the occasion, both the two-time Grammy winner and the star biker had "Tru Luv" tattoos inked on their wrists. ...

  • Jacko ex tells of wacky marriage
    By Dan Craft
    (Daily Telegraph, February 16 2008)
There are snapshots, framed portraits and even paintings that perfectly capture their expressions of innocence. Michael Jackson's ex-wife, Debbie Rowe, studies the faces looking down at her and says fiercely: "I am possessive and protective of my babies''. "Their happiness means more to me than anything else on this world. I love them more than I would ever have thought possible.''

It is, one might think, perfectly normal for a mother to feel this way about her children. But the portraits adorning Rowe's walls show her menagerie of animals, not the two children she produced with, and then handed over to, Jackson. Indeed, there is not even a single, grainy snapshot of either Prince Michael, now 10, or Paris, nine, the children taken from her arms in the maternity ward in exchange for a multi-million-dollar pay-off.

More than a decade after this plain dental nurse first joined the bizarre Michael Jackson roadshow, she lives alone, breeding horses and dogs.

... Since her second child by Jackson was removed, Rowe appears to have had scant dealings with her offspring - although she claims to see them sometimes. Certainly, though, the photograph of the children that made headline news last week - for once their faces not covered by the customary veils - offered Rowe a tantalising glimpse of the children she gave away.

Last week, she invited me into her home for an unsettling interview, in which she broke the silence she has maintained for years about her infamous children. When asked about their appearance last week, she reacts with the grunt of a satisfied breeder, rather than a sigh of loss. ``I turned out two pretty good-looking kids. For that I am proud.''

She is unhappy, however, that the children's faces have been revealed: "The veils were my idea, not Michael's. "I had kidnap threats when they were babies. I did not want them to be recognised. I'm not happy they've been photographed without the veils."

Rowe, 49, is equally quick to dispel rumours that she has fallen out with her ex-husband, from whom she was divorced eight years ago, or is desperate for money. ... "Michael and I are fine. I see him and the kids all the time. They live in Las Vegas now, just a three-hour drive away."

Given that she admitted during Jackson's child molestation court case in 2005 that she hadn't seen him or the children for years, this claim seems unlikely, like so much else in her extraordinary story.

The adopted daughter of a millionaire couple from Malibu, Debbie Rowe became part of Jackson's bizarre menagerie some 11 years ago. As his marriage to Elvis's daughter Lisa Marie Presley crumbled, Jackson's desire to become a father was growing. ...

    (Pantagraph.com, February 14 2008)
The Harlem Gospel Choir also could be billed as the Harlem Globetrotters, and there wouldn't be any violation of truth in advertising. Indeed, if anything, it would simply be a confirmation of the facts. Which go something like this: One day, the choir can be performing at its home base in New York's Harlem sector. The next it might be accompanying string king Andre Rieu on his world tour through Germany, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands and Japan. Another day it might be at the Vatican in Rome, holding a private audience with the pope.

... They performed for Pope John Paul II during his 1995 Central Park appearance, sang for Paul McCartney in 1999, harmonized with Diana Ross at the 2001 U.S. Open, backed up Lyle Lovett at Carnegie Hall in 2003 and sang "In the Ghetto" with Lisa Marie Presley on a recent "Oprah Winfrey Show" from Madison Square Garden.
